Cree Morris: Football Career

HIGH SCHOOL QUARTERBACK
Cree Morris grew up in Southern California and played his high school football at Orange Glen High School in Escondido. Cree was an exceptional high school QB and led Orange Glen to the San Diego CIF Championship game at Qualcomm Stadium against Morse High School his senior year.

In 1989, Cree wound up leading the San Diego CIF section in passing  with 3,212 yards, which ranked third in the state of California. He was named to The Los Angeles Times' all-section first team and decided to accept a scholarship to San Diego St over Tennessee and UCLA.

Future Hall of Famer, John Lynch and Cree were the 2 top QB prospects in San Diego County for the 1989 Hall of Champions College Prep All-Star Game which featured the top players from San Diego vs the top Los Angeles players.

Cree comes from a long line of successful QB’s from Orange Glen High School. This list includes Doug Disney, Sean Salisbury, Brett Salisbury, Duffy Dougherty, Sean Gousha, Darren Wilkinson all of whom went on to be Division 1 players.

COLLEGE QUARTERBACK
Cree went on to play football at San Diego State University and then transferred to St. Mary’s College in northern cal where he finished out his college career.

future Hall of Famer, Marshall Faulk .
Cree handed the ball off to Marshall Faulk when he rushed for an NCAA record of 386 yards against Pacific. That effort was followed by a 300-yard night against Hawaii, and a 299-yard statement game against rival BYU.

Cree started as a sophomore taking
over after Dan McGwire was a first round
draft pick (16th overall) to the Seattle Seahawks in 1991. In the photo, Cree is handing the ball off to TC Wright. Soon after this run, TC was injured which opened the door for Marshall Faulk to set the NCAA rushing record against Pacific.

PROFESSIONAL QUARTERBACK

Cree was invited to a couple of NFL camps; 1994 with the L.A. Raiders and 1995 with the St. Louis Rams. As Cree himself describes it he had a “cup of coffee” with the NFL.

Cree played for the
London Monarchs of the NFL –Europe League.

He finished off his playing career in the Arena Football League, playing for both the
San Jose Sabercats and the
Iowa Barnstormers.

COACHING CAREER
In 2001-2003 Cree became the Co-founder, VP, GM and Head Coach of the San Diego Riptide, an Arena Football organization.

Since his playing days Cree has spent most of his professional career as a football coach, either as a head coach or as an assistant coach. In 2004 Cree was named the head high school coach for the Central Valley Coyotes. In 2010 Cree became the head coach of the Hoover High School football team.

QUARTERBACK COACH
Throughout his career he has been a private QB trainer for many young players in San Diego County. Coach Cree has an unmatched passion for the game of football and the position of quarterback. He loves to teach young aspiring athletes the fundamentals of the position: footwork, grip, drop backs, defensive reads, proper throwing technique, and all other aspects of the quarterback spot. He is not just about football.

Coach Cree is interested in making sure that each young athlete has the opportunity to excel in the classroom, in life and on the field. He places a large emphasis on “Handling your business,” at home first, next in the classroom and then on the field. Coach is all about the well-rounded athlete.
